Glacier Point is our favorite view in Yosemite, hands down. May even be our favorite view in all of California. The scale is pretty tough to comprehend. Like most places in Yosemite, the well beaten (cement) path is great, but all the best spots to explore at Glacier Point are off trail.
The most well known cliffs are off to the left of the Glacier Point platform. If you see a "not a trail" sign, that likely means you found it. There are 3-4 overhangs along this cliff line with phenomenal views of Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, and Nevada Falls. However, on the right, if you follow the cliff line down, there are some unique areas that are rarely explored and photographed.
It should go without saying, these cliffs are insanely high and people do die here. Use extreme caution if you decide to go into any un-recommended terrain.
Get There Early
Like everywhere else in Yosemite, early bird gets the worm. Sunrise here is incredible.
