Overview

Three Peaks, also known as Olomana Trail, is another well known out and back hike just outside of Kailua on the windward side of the island. As of this moment, Three Peaks is actually the most deadly hike on the island. Although there are many more intimidating hikes on the island, more people have fallen off the third peak than any other peak on the island. Don't let the statistics freak you out, this trail is no more technically difficult than many other hikes on the island. You can also stop after the first or second peak as everything up to this point is fairly safe. Most of the pictures you'll see of Three Peaks are actually from the second peak facing the third anyway.

The hike starts out at the Royal Hawaiian Golf Club so you have to park your car outside the resort and walk on. You can find the parking area at 21.376314, -157.763566. There is limited parking so the earlier you show up, the more likely you are to snag a spot. The cops are pretty strict about parking here so be sure you are far off the street and not parking in any zones where you shouldn't be. Odds are pretty good you will get a ticket.
