Taft Point is one of the few trails that somehow isn't completely overrun with people. It may be the small parking lot, maybe the fact that the more popular Glacier Point is nearby. But for whatever reason, Taft Point is one of our favorite hikes in Yosemite. The trail is super mellow and easy to follow making it a great choice for when you're gassed from other hikes or running low on time since Taft is one of the few hikes in Yosemite that does not require a ton of time/planning.
There are several photogenic overlooks, all of which are along the right side of the cliff line. The easiest thing to do, once you make it out of the woods, is to hug the right hand side and just make your way up the cliff line.
The lot is off of Glacier Point Rd so is likely to be closed for winters so check the Yosemite NPS site for closures.
Hike Closed In Winter
Need access to Glacier Point Road to get to trailhead which is closed in the winter time. Check nps.gov to make sure the road is open.
