Overview

Pali Notches is a 0.7 mile trail moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Kaneohe, Oahu, Hawaii. This trail begins directly from the Pali Lookout parking lot. There are multiple entrances to the right along the parking lot and sidewalk. After walking a few hundred feet into the tree line you will notice the primary trail where all the other trails merge together. This hike is steep but takes only about 15 minutes to reach the top, after which you can scale and repel the two notches, then the nipple, and then the chimney. Each notch has ropes to help climb up and down each rock face. This should go without saying, but I will say it anyway. Be sure to test these ropes before completely trusting them. The winds can get really intense up along the entire ridge line so its usually best to save this hike for a day where the wind is fairly calm. Like many other hikes on the island, people actually have died on this hike (aside from all the enemies King Kamehameha threw over the cliffs) so trust your instincts and don't do anything that is out of your comfort zone.

For those who really want to send it, you can continue on past the chimney and Konahuanui ridge line even further.
