The Mist Trail is Yosemite's most popular trail, winding between the famous Vernal and Nevada Falls. The beginning of the trail starts in the Yosemite Valley near the Happy Isles Nature Center at shuttle stop 16. Like many other trails in Yosemite, everything is very clearly marked and almost impossible to get lost. Vernal Falls comes up pretty quick at about 1.2 miles. You'll catch your first glimpse of the falls from the first bridge crossing, at which point you'll know you're close.
The next stretch of the hike up to Nevada falls is another 2 miles. Most people actually stop and turn around at Vernal so Nevada Falls is a nice break away from the crowds. The best views of Nevada are off trail so this is the ideal time to explore around and get some unique views.
If you can, do this hike in the spring time when the water is really pumping. The mist blankets the trail and the power of the waterfalls is truly amazing. Also, since this hike is so popular, again, you will want to go earlier to beat the crowd.
Springtime Splash Zone
Seriously, go in spring. The power of the waterfalls is mesmerizing.
